Shaleece Haas
Founder/Photographer, Aeterna Photography
Shaleece Haas believes documentary photography should move people - make them think, understand, and care. An ardent storyteller, Shaleece creates photographic documentaries on a wide range of social and political issues for magazines, newspapers, and non-profit organizations.
In 2000, Shaleece brought her passion for storytelling to individual families when she founded Aeterna Photography. Since then she's photographed families in New York, New Jersey, and California. Concerned not only with creating compelling documents of family life for her clients but also with contributing to her community, Shaleece donates a portion of Aeterna's profits to non-profit family service organizations.
A graduate of Smith College and the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, Shaleece's work has been exhibited in galleries in New York and Maine. She is the recipient of numerous grants, including a Coryell Family Foundation grant for her documentary on obstetric fistula in Ethiopia. You can view a sampling of the Fistula Project as well as some of her other editorial work on the other photo-essays page.
